In this post we will provide a brief overview of Google Analytics 4 (GA4) and show you how to grant access to a 3rd party marketing partner.
What Is Google Analytics 4 (GA4)?
Google analytics 4 or GA4 is the core web analytics platform that we use to measure your website traffic and analyze performance. It can also accept data from 3rd party integrations such as Call Tracking data from a product like CallRail that we use to measure call performance.
Why Do We Need Access To GA4?
As your marketing partner we need access to GA4 in order to analyze the performance on your website and to install and configure conversion tracking within the product on your behalf. We also use it to connect to Looker Studio and create monthly reports that we send to you.
Granting Access To GA4 To A 3rd Party
In order to grant access to GA4 to a 3rd party go to this URL: https://analytics.google.com/analytics/web/. That should automatically redirect you to your main GA4 instance if you are signed in. From there you can click on the list of properties in the top left of the product and select the GA instance you would like to grant access to. Make sure to select a GA4 instance. If you had a Universal Analytics instance (the previous version of Google Analytics) it may show up here as well.
From there you can click on the admin area in the bottom left and then select property access management.
On the property access management screen you can then add a user using the blue + symbol in the top left and choosing the appropriate permissions for the user.
Conclusion
In this post we provided a brief overview of what GA4 is, why we need access to it as your marketing partner and how to grant us access as a 3rd party administrator for your GA4 account.
